Hang in there friend! I make no promises of better days in the future, but I guarantee they’ll be better than these days and the future is what you make it. And ‘tis the season, so never forget the most obvious thing....

I didn’t know quite what to say on your previous post, but I’ll try here: having gone through a similar loss this past year, I really feel for you. Time heals all wounds and if everyone can be mature about it, you really can resolve things amicably (whether that resolution means reconciling or splitting up for good).

The main thing I wanted to say is that I respect you for taking responsibility for your actions and trying to learn and improve as a person. You’re doing the right thing, and you’re already a better person than anyone who posted some variation of “yeah, women are bitches, right?” in a misguided effort to cheer you up. I don’t know about you, but I find that crap really insulting (to my ex, to half of humanity, and even to me, as if I was the sort of immature jerk who would just blame others for my problems). It was the last thing I wanted to hear while confronting and learning from my own mistakes.

Respect for accepting responsibility for your actions. That’s how grown-ups should act.

Experience with “failure” (hesitant about using that word) always makes you a better person. Here’s to smoother sailing ahead.
